Frewsburg Rest Home April Look Back

This month sure was eventful at the Frewsburg Rest Home! From starting our indoor herb garden to sponsoring a local Little League Team there was never a dull moment! We sure love staying busy and appreciate all the community involvement in our activities.

We started out the month of April painting and planting our herb garden so when the weather breaks we can plant them outside. They are already starting to sprout! Moving on in the month we had one of our favorite volunteers, Ethel, in to host a Veterans Party to honor our Veterans for their service. We had so much fun sitting around reminiscing and enjoying our day! Ethel is the Veterans Coordinator at the Frewsburg American Legion and comes in to bring our Vets special gifts and surprises every few weeks. We are very thankful for her!

We started going to the Myers Memorial Library on Thursdays for their Coffee House which is open to the public. Their event inspired us to open our Coffee House on Tuesdays to the public! We really enjoy getting out to the Library to socialize with folks from the community. We are also very excited to go watch some of the games for the Little League Team we sponsored. The Martz Observatory here in Frewsburg was also a stop on our list of activities this month. We truly love all the different things we can do right here in our home town!

We had some amazing entertainment perform for us this past month also! Gabriella from Happy Days came to visit us, she sang and danced with our residents, she sure can put on a show! We also had Davis & Eng come to sing for us for our birthday party this month. We always love having a variety of musicians come in to play for us. If you know of any local musicians, we are always looking for entertainers to perform for us!

The St. James Italian Heritage Dance company came to our facility to dance for AND with us! They truly put on an amazing show for us! The residents LOVED that they asked them to join in on the fun and dance with them. We are always ready to get out and dance here at the Rest Home.

We had such a beautiful day on Arbor Day this year. The residents were excited to get outside, help plant the tree, and relax in the sunshine! Even some of the resident’s families came out to watch as we planted our tree in the back yard because they read our article in the Jamestown Gazette. It was a great memory to share with residents, staff and family!

We ended the month of April with our Open House. The community had the opportunity to come in and see all the renovations we have done and the plans for the upcoming renovations to begin in May! We had a great turnout. Everyone was so excited to see all the changes that have happened in the last few years since Frewsburg Rest Home became part of the Tanglewood Group family.
